Microsoft revealed its plans for the big August showcase in a new Xbox Wire post. The tech giant will be at Gamescom 2022 in Cologne, Germany, in Hall 8 where attendees can play several of the company’s upcoming first- and third-party titles such as Asobo Studios’ A Plague Tale: Requiem, among others. Don’t worry, Microsoft’s involvement at Gamescom 2022 isn’t exclusive to those in physical attendance. Xbox will also hold live streams on August 25 from 8:00 AM (ET) through 2:00 PM (ET) to give all of those who are interested a glimpse of all of its upcoming Xbox Series S/X games over the next 12 months, such as:
Microsoft Flight Simulator Gunfire Reborn Sea of Thieves Lies of P High on Life Grounded Pentiment A Plague Tale: Requiem Minecraft Legends Planet of Lana Age of Empires IV
Opening Night Live at Gamescom is also coming back. The event, which will start on August 23 at 2:00 PM (ET) will run for about two hours and feature more than 30 games. Microsoft’s attendance at Gamescom 2022 is most definitely welcome. Gamescom 2022 will serve as the first big video game conference in a while, so we’re certainly curious to find out more about the event. With Microsoft and Ubisoft in tow, Gamescom 2022 will be one to keep an eye on. Speaking of, Sony already confirmed that it’s skipping Gamescom 2022. This paves the way for a State of Play event later this month, as per earlier leaks.

But, there is a precedent for Sony to hold two State of Play events in the same month or in successive months. With The Last of Us Part 1 and God of War: Ragnarok set to come out in September and in November, respectively, we’re overdue at least one huge State of Play but preferably two. This way, each game gets some time in the spotlight.
