Having said that, the first part of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, which was confirmed last December has a tall and unenviable task of following up on such an iconic film. But, according to the film’s writers, Across the Spider-Verse could end up getting help from several other established cinematic universes to make sure that it lives up to expectations. During a Happy Sad Confused podcast, Christopher Miller and Phil Lord hinted at a potential crossover with the MCU and Sony’s Spider-Man universe. Phil Lord specifically mentioned in the podcast that “Everything’s possible except for this one thing that everyone wants.” Unfortunately, the two refused to indulge curious Spider-Man fans any further, so we don’t know if it’s going to happen and what that “one thing that everyone wants” is impossible. But, if it’s any consolation, the animated film’s multiverse aspirations are nothing new. In particular, it is widely known that Into the Spider-Verse would have included a post-credits scene with cameos from Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland, although the studio decided against it because it felt that this was too much of a risk at the time and for a film that was already experimental. Now that Spider-Man: No Way Home is close to pulling in $1.7 billion at the global box office following Jackass Forever’s debut weekend, all bets are off. At the end of the day, the only way we’ll know for sure if Across the Spider-Verse is going to crossover with a live-action Spider-Man universe is to watch it. The good news is that Across the Spider-Verse will be here soon. The first half of the two-part animated movie is set to hit theaters on October 7. Hopefully, we’ll know a bit more about Across the Spider-Verse by then. In other Spider-Man news, fans of the masked menace can look forward to playing as both Peter Parker and Miles Morales in Insomniac Games’ Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 sometime in 2023. According to Venom’s voice actor, Tony Todd, the sequel is going to be much more massive in scale compared to the first two Spider-Man games.
