In this case, there’s a growing list of evidence that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will launch early next year, probably by February or March. After the initial reveal back in May, Electronic Arts has been relatively quiet about the Star Wars sequel. However, its earnings reports and other insiders have been anything but. Case in point, there’s the PSN listing in July, Jeff Grubb’s corroboratory statement in August, and the publisher’s previous earnings report. Now, in an investor’s call, EA is shedding more light on the titles it has planned for release from January through March. Specifically, EA will be releasing a major IP, a sports game, a remake, and a partner title next quarter. We know that the remake is Dead Space, the sports game is EA Sports PGA Tour, and the partner title is Wild Hearts, which EA is working on in partnership with Koei Tecmo’s Omega Force studio. This only leaves the Major IP and if you need further proof, we’ll point you out to what CEO Andrew Wilson said in response to an investor who asked why it continues to refuse the name of the game: TLDR; EA won’t reveal Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s release date until we’re close to its release. On one hand, it’s a pretty bold move for EA. We can only assume that this means that the review embargo won’t lift until the game is out already or we’re just days away from when it comes out. Although this isn’t always indicative of a lack of trust in a game’s quality, gamers notice these small details. Then again, as Wilson points out, it worked for Apex Legends and it was also by the same studio. By that logic, it’s hard to fault Wilson for believing EA could pull off the same thing four years later with Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. Also, EA isn’t alone in this. Other publishers regularly go through phases where they do no previews of their upcoming games and withhold review copies until the last minute. Speaking of Electronic Arts, the publisher is believed to have struck a three-game deal with Disney and Marvel Studios. The only one that’s confirmed so far is EA Motive’s Iron Man game that recently went into playtesting.
