The fact is, the beauty of Valheim lies in how you’re free to do pretty much anything you’d like. Below, we’ve rounded up some things that we believe you should do after beating the king of the Fulings, Yagluth.

Is There Valheim Content Roadmap Available?

Earlier in February, Iron Gate Studio released their 2021 content roadmap for Valheim which includes four major updates coming to the game. Namely, Hearth and Home, Cult of the Wolf, Ships and the Sea, and the Mistlands. Of the four, only the Hearth and Home update don’t seem like it will bring significant changes to Valheim’s endgame. Cult of the Wolf, for example, is an upcoming update centered around exploration and combat. Meanwhile, the Ships and The Sea update, as the name implies, will add more content to the Ocean biome in Valheim. Finally, for Mistlands, Iron Gate Studio promises to add a brand-new biome that they’ve described as “pretty foggy” and “inhospitable.” With that said, there will be changes coming to Valheim’s endgame. We just don’t know when exactly these updates will arrive this 2021.

What Can You Do After Finishing Valheim?

Because it’s more of a sandbox title, Valheim doesn’t really force you to do anything throughout the game. It’s just that you’re compelled to beat the bosses because, well, that’s exactly why the Norse gods sent you over to the god-forsaken realm in the first place. Still, that doesn’t mean that there’s nothing left for you to do in Valheim. Here’s a quick rundown of stuff that we suggest that you do in Valheim once you’ve seen through its story.

Explore Everything that Valheim Has to Offer

Redditors estimated that Valheim is roughly around 314 square kilometers in size. This makes it at least five times larger than Skyrim in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. So, while you might not have noticed just how vast the lands of Valheim are while playing, now that you’ve finished the game, it might be time to set sail and lift the fog out of Valheim. Besides, once you’ve taken out the final boss, you’re ready to take on pretty much everything that Valheim has to throw at you. Even if you’re out venturing alone on a ship, we highly doubt that there is anything else in Valheim that poses a threat to you.

Do a Permadeath Run

We recommend doing this with friends, just because we think it’ll be hilarious once someone dies and becomes the reason why all of you have to start over again. But, even if you’re going at it alone, playing Valheim with permadeath adds an unnecessary layer of challenge and tension that should make your next playthrough all the more worthwhile. Considering the gravity of your actual mission in Valheim, doing a permadeath run makes a lot of sense. Just don’t blame us if you get any nightmares from having to watch out for anything that might kill you while you’re doing even the most menial of tasks in the game.

Arm Yourself with the Best Gear

Valheim doesn’t specifically require you to have top-tier weapons to beat the final boss. Sure, they help. It’s just that they’re not necessary. However, now that the game’s over and you have nothing else to do but wait for future updates, why not try and look for the best gear possible? This way, you’re armed to the teeth by the time the next update arrives.

Mod Valheim

Just in case you didn’t know, there are mods for Valheim that exist. There are even mods that make the game more challenging if that’s right up your alley. You can mod Valheim so that starving actually kills you or repairing your items depletes you of resources. If you’re a glutton for punishment, you can even do a permadeath run and add mods that make the survival aspect of the game more challenging. Regardless of what it is that you want to do, there’s a huge chance that there’s a mod for Valheim for that.

Roleplay

Roleplaying isn’t for everyone. However, if you’ve finished Valheim and have sunk hundreds of hours on it, then why not give it a try? There are roleplaying Valheim servers online where players don’t necessarily just follow the game’s plot. Some live their lives in Valheim as if they are NPCs, which actually sounds quite appealing when you think about it.
