The official launch of the Tomb Raider Definitive Survivor Trilogy came just a few hours ahead of the Square Enix Presents event scheduled for March 18.
Get Ready to Discover the Origins of Lara Croft
As it turns out, the leaks were right. Or, at least, they were partly correct. Earlier, it was leaked on the Microsoft Store that Tomb Raider Definitive Survivor Trilogy would release. However, it is now available on both the Microsoft Store for Xbox consoles and the PlayStation Store for Playstation consoles. The said Trilogy of Tomb Raider titles comes with every game in the rebooted trilogy in its definitive editions. This means that it includes the base game and all additional content, as well as expansions. This includes Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration, and Shadow of the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition. The compilation of games is currently selling for $20, which is an absolute bargain. Unfortunately, it’s not permanent. The price is expected to go up to $50 on April 2. The significance of this launch cannot be overstated. The thing is, Square Enix was surprisingly very lax in their celebration of the 25th anniversary of Tomb Raider. Many even went as far as to say that this was the big reveal intended for the upcoming Square Enix Presents showcase. However, now it’s launched already. All we have to go on for now is Square Enix saying that they’ll continue to celebrate the franchise’s 25th anniversary at the showcase.
What’s Next for the Tomb Raider Franchise?
An earlier leak already suggests that Crystal Dynamics is hiring for their next AAA title. Whether or not this is the next Tomb Raider title has not yet been confirmed. However, we do know that Lara Croft’s story is not yet finished. But, again, we don’t know just what the developers nor the publishers have in mind for this. The only thing we know so far is that the trilogy explores the life of Lara Croft before she became the legendary Tomb Raider. This means that there is still the possibility of Crystal Dynamics working on future titles wherein she’s no longer in the process of discovering herself. With Crystal Dynamics promising that the next Tomb Raider title will unify the reboot and earlier titles, we’re excited to see what the developers have up their sleeves.
