Just last month, Shpeshal_Nick talked about a new Quake game in one of his Xbox Era podcasts. The hype quickly died down on account that there hasn’t been any new information about a Quake game since. With that said, the official QuakeCon 2021 schedule might have just revealed that Shpeshal_Nick was onto something.
Is id Software and Machine Games working on a new Quake game?
During the aforementioned Xbox Era podcast episode, Shpeshal_Nick suggested that id Software and MachineGames were involved in a new Quake game. Now, if you check out the QuakeCon 2021 schedule, id Software and MachineGames are the first to present at the event after the introduction. Coincidentally, the two are going to take to the stage to celebrate Quake’s 25th anniversary.
It features a Quake segment featuring both id Software and Machine Games, a Deathloop deep dive, DOOM Eternal studio update, Skyrim and morehttps://t.co/6VCoUu7xP7 pic.twitter.com/tAeNLQi6Ju — Nibel (@Nibellion) August 12, 2021 When you consider the resurgence of Doom in recent years, it makes sense for id Software to try and explore another classic. A collaboration between MachineGames and id Software suggests that the rumored Quake game is no small undertaking. Perhaps this means that it is a reboot of the franchise? There is speculation that the two are working together on a remake of the first Quake game. This would mirror id Software’s decision to reboot the Doom franchise with the release of 2016’s Doom game. On the same note, eagle-eyed observers spotted an unannounced game from id Software at the Australian Classification Board. When you consider that such listings usually pop up a month or two before a game is officially announced, we can expect id Software to make a big splash at QuakeCon 2021. The only question now is if it’s related to the new Quake game rumors or if it’s about an entirely different game. Speaking of QuakeCon 2021, audiences have several reasons to tune in to the upcoming showcase. In addition to the possibility of a Quake game announcement, the exhibition will also include more news about other Bethesda titles. This includes the likes of Deathloop, The Elder Scrolls Online, and Fallout 76, among others.
