According to AMC Theaters, “any movie with the AMC Artisan Films seal is an artist-driven film that advances the art of making movies.” So far, only one comic book movie has gotten the honor of such a seal. Ironically, the said movie is 2019’s Joker, which, you guessed it, stars Batman’s arch-nemesis, Joker, in an origin story where he is portrayed by Joaquin Phoenix. Although there’s no word yet if 2019’s Joker and Matt Reeves’ The Batman are connected, the two will forever be intertwined like their titular characters because of the AMC Artisan Films seal. As explained by the film’s official page on AMC Theaters, The Batman has a “captivating film score” that helps set the mood for a “very suspenseful cinematic experience.” The recommendation adds that the film features a “delicious cast of character performances”, including “Paul Dano as the haunting yet captivating serial killer.” TLDR; The Batman is going to be one of those films that will make its mark in cinematic history. So far, there have been 11 live-action adaptations of the popular DC superhero over the decades. The most beloved of them all is 2008’s The Dark Knight, which posthumously won Heath Ledger an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. With a 94% average score on Rotten Tomatoes, the Christian Bale-led film is the golden standard of Batman movies. But, if AMC Theaters’ disguised review is any indication, Christopher Nolan’s work is going to have competition. Having said that, only time will tell how critics and audiences will view The Batman once it hits theaters on March 4. At the very least, fans won’t have to wait long to find out if the upcoming movie is worthy of the AMC Artisan Film seal. In other news, Robert Pattinson recently shared details on how his Batman will differ from previous iterations. Meanwhile, the film’s director confirmed that The Batman is not going to be an origin story for the dark knight. Finally, for those looking forward to playing as Batman on the go, a recent report suggests that the Batman Arkham Collection is headed to the Nintendo Switch sometime later this year.
