Bethesda Game Studios hasn’t given Starfield an exact date yet, but the Steam page got a recent update to reflect new promotional material for the space exploration game. Eagle-eyed fans spotted another change in the SteamDB entry for Starfield. The update changed the release date for the game from November 11, 2022, to December 29, 2023. This new release date has fueled speculation for a late 2023 release. There is also a new “package” added for the game. This may be related to a DLC or Season pass for Starfield. The nature of these updates to the Steam page varies depending on the developer. Fans and insiders assume that the new date is just a placeholder as most AAA titles do not release in the last few days of the year. Bigger studios tend to launch titles just before Black Friday or before the Christmas rush. Bethesda has previously released AAA titles during November. Skyrim, Fallout 4, and Fallout 76 were launched in the middle of November. However, Bethesda promised that Starfield would come out in the first half of next year. Although we aren’t barring another delay, we’re hoping that Bethesda sticks to its initial promise.
Fan speculate on the release date
A common theory is that the December 29, 2023, release date is just a placeholder and we’ll get a launch window soon. Whether Starfield is on track for a first-half release or delayed to the later part of 2023, we should be getting more information about the game shortly. Fans expect Bethesda to show more gameplay footage or a new trailer for the game a few months before it is released. Starfield is reportedly the biggest in the studio’s history, so the launch should be perfect.
