After releasing a trailer a little less than two months ago, Sony just dropped an Uncharted poster with Nathan Drake striking a very familiar pose.
Uncharted’s live-action adaptation is looking good
Video game adaptations are hit or miss. For each one that makes it to our list of the best video game movies, several others shouldn’t have even been made in the first place. However, Sony and the film’s director, Ruben Fleischer, definitely looks like they put in the effort to honor the source material with Uncharted live-action adaptation. If you look at the first Uncharted poster, you can see Tom Holland’s Nathan Drake sporting a pose that’s evoking similar vibes to Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception.
— Uncharted (@unchartedmovie) December 15, 2021 In addition to Tom Holland, Uncharted also stars Mark Wahlberg as Victor “Sully” Sullivan, Drake’s close friend and mentor who inspires him to go on all of his crazy adventures. Unfortunately, it appears that Mark is intent on not sporting Sully’s mustache, which is a shame. But, who knows? If the film does well enough to get a sequel, maybe, just maybe, he’ll reconsider. Aside from Wahlberg and Holland, the Uncharted cast includes Sophia Ali as Chloe Frazer and Tati Gabrielle as Braddock, with Antonio Banderas serving as the film’s still-unnamed primary antagonist. Unlike the Uncharted games, which already sees a seasoned Nathan Drake as a treasure hunter, the live-action adaptation features Drake in his first adventure ever. It will be interesting to see how Tom Holland will portray Nathan Drake all the while trying to convince viewers that he’s not just playing an older version of his MCU alter-ego, Peter Parker and Spider-Man. The live-action movie adaptation of Uncharted is scheduled to hit theaters on February 18, 2022.
