According to Electronic Arts, Skate 4 (or, just “skate.” if you like it that way) will be a live service and free-to-play game with cross-play and cross-progression for the PC, Xbox, and PlayStation. But, don’t worry. The developers reassured fans that the new Skate is “not pay to win.” In addition, EA confirmed that the “not Skate” game will have “no map areas locked behind [a] paywall” and that it will not have “paid loot boxes” as well as “paid gameplay advantages.” In a recent stream, the developers explained that it took notes from another EA game, Apex Legends. The goal is for the studio to monetize the upcoming Skate title without having a negative impact on the quality and gameplay experience of players who don’t want to or can’t afford to spend money on the game. Finally, EA confirmed that it is working on a mobile version of the game with cross-platform support. The latest skate details comes just weeks after we reported that EA will reveal the game this month. Unfortunately, EA declined to give the in-development skateboarding sim a release date, only saying that it will come out “when it’s ready.” As for Electronic Arts, the publisher is believed to be planning to reveal several big games this month. Also, unless plans have changed, the company has at least four secret games in the works that are scheduled to come out early next year.
