Sony initially had a heavy-hitting slate of exclusive titles like Gran Turismo 7, God of War: Ragnarok, and Horizon Forbidden West, scheduled for 2021 only to see delays into 2022. Although Forbidden West and Gran Turismo 7 have since launched to much critical acclaim, last year’s decisions set a precedent, and many believed that God of War: Ragnarok wouldn’t arrive on time this year.

We were already half-expecting it since the upcoming installment in Kratos’ deity murdering spree is going to break a long-standing series tradition of coming out in either March or April. But, as it turns out, Santa Monica Studio is still very confident that God of War: Ragnarok is on track to release the PS4 and the PS5 at some point in 2022. A user on Twitter, Blue Owlz: Medic, who works for the community and social team at Santa Monica Studio, doubled down on God of War: Ragnarok’s release date, corroborating a statement from Jason Schreier on Reddit. Speaking of when God of War: Ragnarok might hit store shelves, two separate sources have leaked that the PlayStation-exclusive might be available to play either in June or September. With two credible individuals confirming a 2022 release date and other leakers suggesting the same, it’s best to believe that there’s no delay for Kratos’ next romp. Things can always change and absent an official announcement from Santa Monica Studio, we can’t say for certain that things are still progressing as planned.

— Blue Owlz: Medic ⚡️ (@BlueOwlzMedic) March 24, 2022 If it’s any consolation, Sony is still sitting on at least two more big announcements as per Greg Miller. Now that it has revealed the PlayStation Plus rebrand that’s coming in June, it should only be a matter of time before we hear more about God of War: Ragnarok. The long-time console manufacturer has become the target of criticism for PS Now subscribers who stream games on their PC. Following its announcement of the revamped PlayStation Plus, Sony just doubled the cost of streaming PlayStation games on the PC.
