Remembering the Late Gordon Hall

Gordon Hall was the founder of Möbius Entertainment. He founded the studio back in 1997 and ended up playing a huge role in a number of Game Boy Advance adaptations of popular games at the time. This includes Max Payne. The said game, in particular, was what prompted Rockstar Games’ president Sam Houser to acquire the fledgling studio in 2004. This resulted in the studio rebranding to Rockstar Leeds soon after. Afterward, Hall would find himself having played a role in some of Rockstar’s biggest titles. This includes 2005’s Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories for the PlayStation Portable and PlayStation 2. He also helped on 2009’s Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, which was available on Android and iOS devices, as well as the PlayStation Portable and the Nintendo DS. In 2009, Hall worked at Rockstar San Diego where he reportedly made huge contributions to the development of 2011’s Red Dead Redemption title. Following the release of Red Dead Redemption, Hall would end up taking a sabbatical. He took two years to focus on studying player psychology and microtransactions. Upon his return, he would end up being appointed as the Chief Creative Officer for Activision Blizzard Mobile. Grand Theft Auto, otherwise known as just GTA, is a series of titles mainly developed and/or published by Rockstar Games. It’s one of the most controversial video games of all time. However, it’s also a top-seller. The latest title, Grand Theft Auto V, boasts a total lifetime sales figure of 140 million units since it released in 2013. Rockstar Games is expected to work on Grand Theft Auto VI next and release it sometime in the next few years.
