Specifically, Minecraft still hasn’t gotten ray tracing support on the Xbox Series S and X, leaving players frustrated and disappointed. But, it appears that the wait is about to end soon after players discovered that Mojang has already started enabling full ray tracing for a handful of Minecraft players.
According to certain Minecraft Preview enrollees, Mojang Studios has upgraded Minecraft: Bedrock Edition on the Xbox Series S/X. More importantly, some Minecraft players have found a way to access ray tracing on the popular sandbox video game following the latest update by joining multiplayer games with PC players that have all the ray tracing packs installed and enabled. Another method that currently works is to create a new world and toggle “Ray Tracing” in settings. While Minecraft players on the Xbox Series S/X still have to jump through hoops to enable ray tracing on Minecraft’s latest pair of consoles, the fact that it’s available suggests that the developers are all but ready to deploy the enhancements.
— Tom Warren (@tomwarren) March 28, 2022 Unfortunately, there are also users saying that the current “methods” do not work. So, it’s either some Minecraft players are lying about ray tracing already available in the game or it’s really only available to a select few. Personally, the likelihood is high that Minecraft is about to join the long list of Xbox Series X|S Optimized games with ray tracing support. Even without corroborating reports from players, it was always just a matter of time before Mojang Studios made Minecraft look better on the Xbox Series S/X. The developers might have just been running a test run for the feature these past few days so it can collect feedback from the massive community for a final set of tweaks. Minecraft players have waited for Microsoft to make ray tracing available in the game after showing it off on the Xbox Series S/X. Now, it finally seems like one of the best Game Pass titles is about to get better. Just try not to get your hopes up, at least for the first few weeks of Minecraft getting a raytracing mode. The added graphics draw should affect the performance of Minecraft on consoles. Of course, we could be wrong. After all, if Asobo Studio can find a way to run Microsoft Flight Simulator at 4K at a 30 FPS minimum on the Xbox Series X, we’re confident that Mojang can achieve similar if not better results. Hopefully, the Xbox Series S doesn’t suffer as much.
