Having said that, finally seeing Halo on the small screen is a pretty big deal, canonicity be damned. With a little over a week to go before its March 24 premiere, Paramount+ released a new trailer that gives fans a better look at what they can expect from Season 1 of the action sci-fi series.
Based on what we already know, the Halo TV show will be set in the 26th century with humanity at war against an intergalactic menace, the Covenant. To give humans a better shot at winning the war, Natascha McElhone’s Dr. Halsey creates genetically enhanced super-soldiers, the Spartans, and one of them is the series lead, Master Chief Spartan John 117, who is portrayed by Pablo Schreiber. In the latest trailer, we can see Master Chief at war while teasing potential storylines and settings for the first season. According to the trailer’s description, Paramount+’s TV show “will weave deeply drawn personal stories with action, adventure, and a richly imagined vision of the future.” It also appears that it won’t be a one-man show, as per the line, “Nobody can save humanity alone-not even the Master Chief.” Paramount Plus first revealed a trailer and important details about the Halo TV series in January before ordering a second season just a few weeks later, a sign that the streaming platform is heavily invested in the franchise. Only time will tell if their efforts to get Halo made will pay off, but for what it’s worth, Paramount has got a good track record lately with Yellowstone getting a fifth season and an equally successful spin-off/prequel. In other Halo news, the cracks are starting to show in 343 Industries’ latest Halo outing. After getting rave reviews at launch, fans are starting to complain about Halo Infinite. In particular, 343 is having difficulty retaining players on Steam and other platforms. It also certainly doesn’t help that 343 can’t keep up with its promises, recently delaying the game’s iconic co-op mode and Forge mode to a later date.
