Now, we’ve just received word from a credible source that there is indeed a new Dead Space game in development.
Is the new Dead Space Game confirmed?
Just recently, we discussed how a new Dead Space game could be announced at EA Play Live 2021. It would definitely be welcome news, as the Dead Space games are revered as one of the best horror games of all time. Fast forward to today and it appears that the rumors about EA’s Motive Studio working on a new Dead Space game aren’t just hearsay. According to a report from VentureBeat, EA Motive is indeed working on a new Dead Space game, and that EA Motive is taking inspiration from Resident Evil. Capcom’s latest run of successful releases following a series of lackluster sequels starting with Resident Evil Biohazard back in 2017. This was followed by remakes of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3, which were released in 2019 and 2020, respectively. Finally, Resident Evil Village was released this year, and met with critical acclaim. It makes sense for EA Motive to take inspiration from a series that has found a way to reinvent itself after all these years. While it is exciting to hear more about a new Dead Space game in the works, the report doesn’t reveal when the game will be officially announced, let alone released. Then again, with EA Play Live 2021 just right around the corner, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to foretell that EA should reveal the game by then - if it is indeed in development. Having said that, eagle-eyed fans have noticed a couple of things that hint at a potential EA Play Live 2021 reveal for the new Dead Space game. Case in point, the game’s official YouTube channel just updated its profile picture after years of dormancy. Not to mention, EA Motive just welcomed former Assassin’s Creed director, Eric Baptizat to the team. If a new Dead Space game is announced at EA Play Live 2021, it will help make up for what is predicted to be a glaring lack of otherwise big announcements at the event. Case in point - BioWare has confirmed that it will not release new information about the next Mass Effect or Dragon Age games at the upcoming showcase. This gives Dead Space a chance to hog all the spotlight. Either way, we’re just happy that EA is back to making single-player games again. It wasn’t too long ago that the company claimed that such titles are “finished”.
