Netflix kicked off this year’s Geeked Week showcase with a look at Wednesday, introducing the Scream star as the series’ titular devil child alongside her handy companion, Thing, who will be played by Victor Dorobantu. As Wednesday starts to come of age, she struggles to control her latent psychic powers. To help her control it, Catherine Zeta-Jones’ Morticia and Luis Guzmán’s Gomez, Wednesday’s mother and father, respectively, send her to Nevermore Academy. However, as people start disappearing around Wednesday, the series’ unsmiling protagonist suspects that there are more to it than meets the eye and it’s now up to her to find out how her morose family is involved. Wednesday will also star the likes of Gwendoline Christie, Jamie McShane, Christina Ricci, Riki Lindhome, and Percy Hynes White. Unfortunately for the grisly fans of TV’s most lurid family, Netflix did not give a release date for Wednesday. However, we wouldn’t be surprised if Netflix times Wednesday’s premiere alongside Halloween for later this year. Speaking of gloomy shows, Netflix confirmed that the dark fantasy TV series, The Sandman, will premiere on August 5. Meanwhile, another favorite of horror fans, Stranger Things, just set a new record for the streamer with the first part of its fourth season.
