Just as The Walking Dead’s 11th season is about to conclude on March 27, AMC confirmed the Maggie and Negan-led The Walking Dead spin-off TV show. Eli Jorné will helm Isle of the Dead, which will revolve around the two characters venturing off to a New York City that has been “cut off from the mainland” for years. Isle of the Dead will be the nth spin-off stemming from AMC’s flagship series as AMC seeks to expand on the universe once The Walking Dead ends soon. We’re definitely curious to find out where Isle of the Dead will take place in The Walking Dead timeline. The last we heard of Negan and Maggie, the two had parted ways after Negan realized that Maggie will never forgive him for his earlier deeds. Since the spin-off won’t premiere until 2023, at least a year after the end of The Walking Dead has ended, the story could be set following the events of the hit drama. However, it remains a mystery why the two would even end up traveling together, let alone to an island that’s been infested by zombies for years. In the meantime, fans of The Walking Dead can look forward to watching a new episode every Sunday until March 27, after which the show will go on a temporary break before airing the final eight episodes later this year. Speaking of, AMC is expected to drop the anthology spinoff series, Tales of the Walking Dead, this summer.
