According to Gematsu, My Hero Academia is getting a free-to-play battle royale game, My Hero Academia: Ultra Rumble. The latest Weekly Jump issue reveals Ultra Rumble, where a translated panel describes a game where players can “team up to win a 24-player rumble in multiplayer action.” Judging by the screenshots available so far, Ultra Rumble works like a typical battle royale game. It also appears that gamers will work together in teams of three. Finally, a reveal trailer teases the potential of varied gameplay, such as a switch in perspective when playing as one of the series’ most popular characters, Bakugo, as he throws a grenade blast. My Hero Academia is one of the most popular animated shows around. After bursting into the scene in 2016, My Hero Academia has gotten three movies, which all have done relatively well at the box office. According to Bandai Namco, Ultra Rumble will be released on the PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Unfortunately, the Weekly Jump scan did not include details of a release window let alone a release date. But, if it’s any consolation, Bandai Namco intends to hold a closed beta test for the game. This hints at the possibility of a bigger international announcement coming soon, preferably with a new website launch. A battle royale game based on My Hero Academia is definitely out of the left field. However, Ultra Rumble is not with its merits. Don’t forget, people doubted Final Fantasy 7 First Soldier as well when it was first announced. In an earlier article, we found out how well the game is going and it’s only gotten better since. Ultra Rumble could very well follow the same path. On the other hand, the opposite could happen with Ultra Rumble falling way below everyone’s expectations. For now, all My Hero Academia fans can do is wait for when Ultra Rumble will be launched.
