As already confirmed in May with a surprise trailer, Season 5 of Cobra Kai will jump-kick its way to streaming devices near you starting on September 9. Ahead of its release, Netflix is giving fans another look at the upcoming season. As expected, we’ll see several familiar faces, both from the first four seasons of Cobra Kai as well as the popular ’80s trilogy. To be more specific, the intriguing stills for the upcoming Cobra Kai season include Sean Kanan’s Mike Barnes. Many consider Mike as the most dangerous adversary Ralph Macchio’s Daniel LaRusso ever faced in the original films. Dubbed as the “bad boy” of Karate, Mike tormented Daniel in the 1989 film, Karate Kid: Part III, after Thomas Ian Griffith’s Terry Silver hired him to make life miserable for the reigning All Valley Karate champion. Daniel ultimately put a stop to the machinations of Mike and Terry after defeating Mike in a sudden death match at the 1985 All Valley Tournament.

However, with Daniel asking for help from Yuji Okumoto’s Chozen Toguchi, it only makes sense that Terry brings back one of his old mates after sending Martin Kove’s John Kreese behind bars. Here’s the logline for Cobra Kai Season 5: With the sixth season of Cobra Kai already in development and more spin-offs potentially in the works, there’s no doubt that Netflix is all aboard the Cobra Kai hype train. Hopefully, the back-to-back success of Stranger Things Season 4 Part 2, The Sandman, and Cobra Kai Season 5, can help put Netflix back on the right track after losing millions of subscribers earlier this year.
