Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is slated for a 2025 release and MCU has started pre-production on the movie. The info comes from Jonathan Majors, who joined the MCU as the universe’s next big baddie. Majors will be portraying Kang the Conqueror in the Avengers 5 movie. According to the actor, he has been in talks with director Destin Daniel Cretton who will be at the helm of the fifth Avengers film. Cretton previously worked with Marvel Studios in directing Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Majors revealed that he has had a “few talks” about the upcoming film with the director. “We spoke for a very long time and he’s outgoing, he’s an open heart and he’s grounded,” the actor adds.
— Variety (@Variety) October 16, 2022 Kang the Conqueror debuted in the season finale of Loki and will appear in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. The setup is similar to how Marvel introduced Thanos as the villain of the Infinity Saga. Josh Brolin’s Thanos appeared in several films, either in the post-credits scenes or in minor roles before taking the main stage in Avengers: Infinity Wars. Majors is confident in Cretton’s capabilities as a director and uses the word “grounded” to describe his work.
Kang the Conqueror
Kang the Conqueror’s true identity is Nathaniel Richards, a time-traveling warlord from the 31st century and descendant of the Fantastic Four’s Reed Richards. He traveled back in time to conquer the 21st century Earth as his world is already dying. Kang does not have any superpowers but he is armed with a genius-level intellect that makes him a master tactician and inventor. He wields technology from the future and has a suit of armor that gives him immense battle and time-traveling capabilities. The villain uses his technology and intellect to combat superheroes in his run-ins with the Fantastic Four and the Avengers in the comic books. There will be multiple “variants” of the supervillain as he has most likely created copies of himself from alternate timelines and multiverses. One of those variants will be residing in the quantum realm that Ant-Man and the Wasp will be exploring. The Multiverse Saga will have a very confusing timeline with characters popping in and out of the “Sacred Timeline”, like Hulk’s appearance in the season finale of She-Hulk with his son Skaar. America Chavez and Doctor Strange were also moving about different timelines in The Multiverse of Madness and Deadpool went on a time-traveling spree to “fix” the timeline before Deadpool 3, although it’s now arguable if the events of the said movie are canon to the MCU. It will be up to director Destin Daniel Cretton and screenwriter Jeff Loveness to coalesce the timeline and multiverse into one cohesive storyline. Working with Jonathan Majors on the story will surely bring the best out of the Avengers: The Kang Dynasty movie. Avengers: The Kang Dynasty will open in theaters on May 2, 2025.
