What did Jackman say about Reynolds’ MCU debut?
Just in case you missed it, Deadpool finally made the jump to the MCU. Of course, it was in a totally unpredictable way. In a new video promoting his upcoming movie, Free Guy, Reynolds took the time to suit up as his wise-cracking alter ego along with Taika Waititi’s Korg, who first appeared in 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok. To say that it broke the internet wouldn’t be an exaggeration as fans couldn’t help but feel excited at the prospect of seeing Reynolds play Deadpool for the first time in three years while also “confirming” that Deadpool is now officially part of the MCU. Technically, Deadpool already is in the MCU. House Mouse recently acquired 21st Century Fox, which included the rights to use Deadpool and the rest of the X-Men cast in future movies. Deadpool 3 is currently in development and it will officially bring Deadpool into the MCU. The film is expected to launch sometime after 2023. Not one to miss the chance to give his old pal a good ribbing, Jackman added his thoughts about Deadpool being in the MCU. Jackman commented on Reynolds’ post on Instagram where he joked about how Deadpool didn’t mention him a single time. He said, “Wow! 4:12 and no mention of me. DP your therapy is working!!!”. As we’ve already mentioned, Reynolds and Jackman often take jabs at each other whenever they can. The first two Deadpool movies are full of jokes at the expense of Jackman or Wolverine. So, it is indeed surprising that Reynolds didn’t mention Jackman or his yellow spandex-wearing alter-ego throughout the entire video. Maybe this is all just a ploy to reel the Wolverine actor back into the superhero genre? You know, the old, “ignoring you completely so that you have no choice but to come back” ploy? Either way, Reynolds’ recent appearance as Deadpool was definitely one of the ages. The fact that it saw Jackman take the chance to have fun at Reynolds’ expense (instead of the other way around) only makes it better. We can only assume that as soon as news of Deadpool 3 pops up, Jackman will be the first to have a go at it. Who knows? Maybe Jackman will make a cameo in the film. Or, better yet, maybe he’ll make his MCU debut in Deadpool 3 as Wolverine. While this is all just wishful thinking, you can’t fault a guy for dreaming!
