When you’re on a roll chopping trees for wood, you don’t want to break the momentum and stop, switch to your pole, and have to jump islands to continue chopping. What’s the solution then? Build a bridge, or several, to connect your island. Then you can remove that pole tool from your inventory and have another precious, free slot. How do you build that bridge? Read on.
Bridge Construction Kit: Animal Crossing New Horizons
The first bridge recipe will be given to you by Tom Nook after Nook’s Cranny has been built. Tom will let you know a total of three new villagers will be moving to your island and ask you to craft a Log Bridge. This recipe is the Bridge Construction Kit and it will require:
4 x Clay 4 x Log Stakes 4 x Stone
You’ll find clay by hitting stones with a hammer or an axe. You can find plenty of clay on your island, and clay also has a high probability of dropping from stones you hit on the Mystery Island tours. If you’re in a pinch and need a handful of clay quickly, that may be your best bet. Clay can also drop from balloons but that isn’t the most efficient way of collecting it when you’re in a crunch. The log stakes are an item you’ll need to craft, which take three pieces of wood. Take your axe and hit some trees, and then return to your DIY Workbench and select the Log Stakes recipe under the Housewares tab to make them. And finally, the stones you can get from hammering rocks or hitting them with your axe. A few whaps should do it and you’ll be all set for ingredients. That will complete the bridge construction kit and you’ll be able to place this bridge where you like along the rivers.
Future Bridge Goals in Animal Crossing New Horizons
For building fancier bridges in the future, you’ll need to have upgraded your Resident Services from a tent to a building. At that point, you can speak to Tom Nook and choose “Let’s talk infrastructure” to choose from a list of bridges, and then be tasked with finding the perfect location to build it. Each bridge will cost a pretty penny, with the least expensive bridge coming in at 98,000 bells, while the most expensive bridge can run up to 228,000. If you’ve made a mistake and want to demolish a bridge, that will cost you 10,000 bells. You’ll need to donate these funds to pay off the cost of the bridge before it will be built. Once you’ve paid off the construction costs, it will take a day to build the bridge itself. So plan ahead and you’ll be speeding across your interconnected islands in no time. Below, you can find the building cost of all the bridges in the game:
