If you’d like to know more about the upcoming League of Legends Arcane TV series, we’ve got you covered.

League of Legends Arcane TV Series Premiere Date

Riot originally intended for a 2020 premier for Arcane. Unfortunately, because of the global COVID-19 pandemic, Riot had to postpone and push it back to 2021. Earlier this year, Riot finally confirmed a Fall 2021 release window, but a specific date hasn’t been announced yet.

What Is the League of Legends Arcane TV Series About?

The plot of Arcane will reportedly revolve around two of League of Legends’ most iconic champions: Jinx and Vi. Outside of that, it’s not exactly clear how the narrative between the sisters will form. We know from the trailers released so far that the series will explore the tough childhood of the siblings. In particular, as the two grew up exploring the cities of Piltover and Zaun. For those who aren’t fans of the League of Legends MOBA game, Jinx and Vi are the exact opposites of each other. In fact, you wouldn’t think that they were related, let alone sisters. One, Jinx, is a homicidal maniac with a penchant for blowing things up. Meanwhile, the other, Vi, is a sheriff who is a stalwart champion of law and order. Perhaps it is the polarizing relationship of these two that made Riot decide to explore exactly what kind of relationship they had growing up and what happened and turn it into a TV series. With that said, Vi and Jinx aren’t the only champions who will be making an appearance in the League of Legends Arcane TV series. Other champions that are connected to Piltover and Zaun are also expected to appear in the TV series at some point.

Is There an Arcane TV Series Trailer Available?

At the moment, there are three official Arcane TV series trailers available. The first one came out as part of Riot Games’ 10th-anniversary celebration. This was followed by a new trailer released over a month ago. Many believed that the second trailer was released as a response to the overwhelming success of DOTA: Dragon’s Blood. Valve’s very own MOBA, Dota 2, is widely considered as League of Legends’ biggest and oldest competitor. Finally, the third trailer for Arcade dropped on the final day of the Netflix Geeked Week. Other gaming-related TV series and media confirmed during the same showcase include multiple Ubisoft animated TV series and an upcoming Castlevania spin-off, among others.

What Else Do We Know About Arcane?

Riot is keeping the details of the upcoming League of Legends Arcane TV series close to its heart. However, what we do know is that Riot is the one financing it. This means that the makers of the League of Legends universe will have full internal creative control. As for who is behind the animation, Riot tapped Fortiche Production for the job. The French 3D animation studio is a longtime partner of Riot for its previous animated cinematics. The League of Legends Arcane TV series is apparently not related to the Cinematic Universe that Riot was recently spotted hiring for.
