Dune: Awakening is an open-world survival Massively Multiplayer Online game set in the Dune world of Arrakis. It comes after Funcom’s 2022 strategy game set in the same universe titled Dune: Spice Wars. The game is inspired by Frank Herbert’s 1965 epic science fiction novel that many consider one of the best science fiction works of all time, as well as Denis Villeneuve’s 2021 blockbuster movie, and is being developed in partnership with Legendary Studios. The game’s description promises a massive and immersive experience for game lovers, especially MMO fans. Read it below: Rui Casais, CEO of Funcom, stated that “Funcom has been pushing boundaries in the MMO genre for 20 years. It’s where our roots are. We built on that with Conan Exiles, our first big success in the survival space. With Dune: Awakening we’re bridging the survival and MMO genres to create something truly unique and ambitious within a universe we’re all so passionate about.” Hunt for spice blooms and deploy your harvester, then protect it from rival factions in fast-paced, deadly combat that shifts seamlessly from armored groundcars to ornithopters in the sky. Plot your rise to power and build your influence within the Landsraad through careful intrigue. While there is no set release date at the moment, we can confirm that Funcom is currently signing up interested persons to trial a beta version of Dune: Awakening at dunegames.com. However, like the game, there is no date for when the beta might launch. As a result, those who register will have to sit tight until the company provides further details. Dune: Awakening will be available on the PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.
