According to general manager, Gary McKay, the fourth mainline Dragon Age game has completed its alpha milestone. This means that the developers can now play the game from start to finish. Unfortunately, McKay didn’t let us in on when we might expect to see more of the next game in BioWare’s award-winning RPG series. Here’s what McKay had to say in a blog post: There’s no fixed timeline from when a game goes from alpha to beta to completion. But, it’s a big deal for Dreadwolf to pass this milestone. McKay also took this time to confirm that BioWare is also working on a new Mass Effect game as well as Star Wars: The Old Republic. Finally, McKay teased that Mass Effect fans won’t have to wait for too long to find out more about Mass Effect 5 (or is it 4?). McKay excitedly reveals that Bioware has a team “hard at work envisioning what the future holds for a new single-player Mass Effect game.” As a current-gen exclusive title, Dragon Age: Dreadwolf benefits from powerful hardware. After earlier reports put the game’s release date in late 2023 if not early 2024, the current updates we’ve been receiving suggest that it’s on track for the said dates. Case in point, the promising update in February was followed by the official name in June before we received a new community update last month. If we’re lucky, EA could showcase Dragon Age: Dreadwolf at this year’s The Game Awards in December. Speaking of EA, the massive video game publisher has several in-development titles in its pipeline. On top of Dragon Age: Dreadwolf and Mass Effect 5, EA and its subsidiaries are also working on a single-player Iron Man game and a Monster Hunter rival by Koei Tecmo.
