Earlier this year, Disney pushed back the premiere of Obi-Wan Kenobi by a week. To make up for it, the Ewan McGregor-led limited TV series enjoyed a two-episode launch, much to the delight of fans. Today, Disney confirmed that the same thing is happening to Andor. Instead of premiering on August 31, Andor will launch on September 21. But, that’s not all. Disney also confirmed that three episodes of Andor will go live simultaneously, which also means that Christmas just came early for Star Wars fans. To help stymie the sting of the delay even further, Disney released a new trailer for Andor. The new Andor footage runs nearly two and a half minutes long. It sets up the start of the rebellion and sees the return of the actors from 2016’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Just like Rogue One, Andor is a darker and relatively more grounded take on Star Wars. But, that’s not all. The series is promising fewer green screen use and more big action set pieces. Judging from the trailer, it will deliver. In addition to promising plenty of action, Andor will also canonize a fan-favorite vehicle. If you look closely, the trailer shows the Arrestor cruiser very briefly. Its current look is based on Christopher Cantwell’s original design that made its first appearance in 2018’s critically-panned Solo. With 11 episodes planned for Andor, the upcoming Star Wars spin-off should help tide Star Wars fans over for a while. Speaking of Star Wars, fans can look forward to seeing Liam Neeson come back as Qui-Gon Jinn in another spin-off. The animated series, Tales of the Jedi, will see the Taken actor voice his iconic role as the maverick Jedi master later this year. Meanwhile, rumors suggest that Cal Kestis will get his own Star Wars spin-off, likely after Star Wars Jedi: Survivor comes out sometime next year.
