On October 16, DC fans from all over the world can tune in to a celebration of all things DC, bringing news covering all DC films, TV series, comic books, and even video games to audiences. Similar to last year, Warner Bros. isn’t releasing an official schedule for the event. However, we do have a general idea of what kind of announcements will be made at the event, as well as what to expect. But, of course, there’s always the potential for surprises. With that said, join us as we break down DC Fandome 2021, as well as list our wishes and predictions for the upcoming DC showcase.
DC FanDome 2021 schedule and start date
DC FanDome 2021 is scheduled for October 16 and will start at 1:00 PM ET / 10:00 AM PT / 6:00 BST. As we might have already mentioned, DC FanDome 2021 doesn’t have an exact schedule at the moment. However, a quick look at the official website shows that the event will run for around 4 hours. Something tells us that Warner Bros. is going for something different this time around, forgoing FanDome 2020’s convention-like panels for one big and long session. Of course, that’s just our guess. We’ll know for sure just how DC FanDome 2021 will go live on October 16.
How to watch DC FanDome 2021
You can watch DC FanDome 2021 over at its official website. However, DC’s publicity team previously announced that the stream is also going to be available in multiple ways. You can watch it on DC’s official Facebook, Twitch, Twitter, and YouTube accounts. DC also didn’t forget about the kids, creating a child-friendly experience that younger audiences can tune into at DCKidsFandome.com.
Everything confirmed for DC FanDome 2021
Despite the lack of a defined schedule, DC FanDome 2021 already has a confirmed list of games, movies, animated films, and TV shows that will be shown off at the event. On the cinematic side, DC fans can expect to see more The Batman footage, as well as everyone’s first look at the upcoming The Flash film, Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom, Black Adam, and Shazam! Fury of the Gods. Meanwhile, over on the small screen, we can expect to see The Flash’s Grant Gustin, Superman & Lois’ Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch, as well as Supergirl’s Melissa Benoist, all represent their DC Arrowverse shows. In addition to the DC Arrowverse TV shows, James Gunn will be at DC FanDome 2021 to promote HBO’s Peacemaker TV series featuring John Cena. DC Animation and games fans will get their fair share of the action as well. Bruce Timm’s animated series, Batman: Caped Crusader, is expected to make its debut at DC FanDome 2021. At the same time, upcoming DC video games such as Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and Gotham Knights are both expected to have a strong showing at the upcoming event.
Wishlist and Predictions for DC FanDome 2021
Now for the fun part. Warner Bros. might have already confirmed part of DC FanDome 2021, but we’re hopeful that the studio has a couple of aces up its sleeves. It doesn’t matter if it’s a casting reveal, first looks, or a confirmation of a long-rumored project, DC FanDome 2021 is the perfect place to make a splash, so Warner Bros. might want to capitalize on this opportunity. Having said that, here are some things that we wish Warner Bros. would announce at DC FanDome 2021.
Injustice 3 announcement
Rumors around a third Injustice game have been going on for years. The speculations only intensified after NetherRealm Studios announced that it had finished working on Mortal Kombat 11. Although there were reports that the studio was prioritizing Mortal Kombat 12 over the third Injustice game, NetherRealm never really confirmed nor corroborated them. Because of this, we’re still hoping that Ed Boon will take the stage at DC FanDome 2021 to reveal that Injustice 3 is in the works.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League delay
Please don’t put a hit on us. Yes, we know that fans have been waiting for Rocksteady Studios’ first game after 2015’s Arkham Knight. The initial reveal at last year’s DC FanDome event caught everyone off guard, especially as most believed back then that Rocksteady was working on a Superman game. Now that we know that it’s Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, we’re hoping that the studio will delay it. Warner Bros already delayed Gotham Knight from its initial 2021 release window earlier this year. The same goes for Hogwarts Legacy. Releasing three big AAA titles in the same year feels a little bit too greedy, especially since two of them are derived from related sources. Not only that, but delaying Kill the Justice League to 2023 will allow Rocksteady to learn from whatever mistakes Gotham Knights will make as both titles will feature a team of playable heroes, or in Kill the Justice League’s case, complicated anti-heroes, and straight-up murderous villains. Of course, we’re still hoping that we get to see more of Kill the Justice League at DC FanDome 2021. If the delay is true, the least that Rocksteady and Warner Bros. can do is to give audiences a better idea of what kind of game Kill the Justice League is going to be.
Gotham Knights release date and demo
After delaying Gotham Knights earlier this year, a more specific release date for Gotham Knights in 2022 is long overdue. We’d love it even more if we got a demo. It’s not that demos have been a Warner Bros. thing before, but this is a wishlist, after all. Besides, making a playable demo of Gotham Knights should give audiences a better idea of what WB Games Montréal is working on after its widely panned attempt back in 2013, Batman: Arkham Origins.
A new DC Animated Movie Universe
The DC Animated Movie Universe, which was composed of 16 full-length animated films loosely based on New 52 storylines, made nearly $70 million from 2013 to 2020. More importantly, fans loved watching the movies. Unfortunately, following 2020’s Justice League Dark: Apokalips War, Warner Bros. decided to end the DC Animated Movie Universe. There’s no news that Warner Bros. intends on starting another one, but with an Injustice animated movie set to premiere soon, the studio has a solid foundation that it can use to kick start a new DC Animated Movie Universe.
