Now, the Injustice games are set to add the small screen to their long list of achievements.
Who are the cast members of the Injustice animated movie?
A couple of months ago, we covered DC’s announcement that an Injustice animated movie was in the works. Back then, we knew very little of the upcoming DC Animated Movie animated film. Who are its cast members? When is it going to release? Is it going to explore the actual plot of the game or will it be set in the years before or after? These are just some of the questions that we finally have an answer to. In an exclusive announcement courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter, we finally have confirmation that the Injustice animated movie will take inspiration from Tom Taylor’s Injustice: Gods Among Us: Year One DC comic book series, as well as the first Injustice video game, 2013’s Injustice: Gods Among Us. Although the sequel is widely considered the superior game of the two and one of the best superhero games around, it was the original title that laid the foundation. Judging from its source material, we can assume that the upcoming Injustice video game will explore an alternate Earth where the Joker successfully tricks the entire Justice League, specifically Superman, into killing his own wife, Lois Lane, and their unborn son. A furious Superman demands retribution for Joker’s crimes. However, Batman remains firm in his “no killing” policy. This results in a divide between Superman and Batman, which soon escalated into a war. Now hell-bent on taking control of the entire Earth, Superman establishes the Regime, with superheroes like Wonderwoman and Cyborg joining his cause. Meanwhile, Batman founds the Insurgency, a group composed of an unlikely mix of allies like Deathstroke, Harley Quinn, and even John Constantine. While Zack Snyder’s Justice League teased an unhinged Superman, this will mark the first time that a truly tyrannical one will grace either the small or big screens. Having said that, here are the cast members of the upcoming Injustice animated film:
Justin Hartley as Superman Anson Mount as Batman Laura Bailey as Lois Lana and Rama Kushna Zack Callison as Damian and Jimmy Olsen Brian T. Delnay as Green Lantern Brandon Michael Hall as Cyborg Edwin Hodge as Mr. Terrific and Killer Croc Oliver Hudson as Plastic Man Gillian Jacobs as Harley Quinn Yuri Lowenthal as Mirror Master, Flash, and Shazam Derek Phillips as Nightwing and Aquaman Kevin Pollak as Joker and Jonathan Kent Anika Noni Rose as Catwoman Reid Scott as Green Arrow and Victor Zsasz Faran Tahir as Ra’s al Ghul Fred Tatasciore as Captain Atom Janet Varney as Wonder Woman Andrew Morgado as Mirror Master Soldier
Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge’s Rick Morales is on board as the film’s producer with Matt Peters from Justice League Dark directing the script by Ernie Altbacker of Batman: Hush. Jim Krieg will also be producing the film, with Sam Register acting as the executive producer of the project. Injustice is expected to debut on home entertainment this fall.
Will the Injustice animated movie have sequels?
With the Injustice animated movie expected to debut later this year, it’s fair to wonder if this is just the start of an entirely new franchise. Because the Injustice games have had multiple comic book series (most of which were best-sellers) released that were based on it over the years, there is a ton of materials to pull storylines from. So, it shouldn’t come off as a surprise if it ends up kicking off a new line of connected DCAU movies like what 2013’s Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox did, ending with 2020’s Justice League Dark: Apokalips War. Of course, for that to happen, the Injustice animated movie needs to pull in relatively good numbers. Considering that the Injustice animated movie won’t be here for a while, we recommend checking out James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, which is set to premiere on August 5/6.
