After his long tenure as the young wizard Harry Potter in the films, Radcliffe has explored a wide variety of roles. The actor has also taken critically acclaimed performances on stage and theater. But one popular genre that Radcliffe has yet to take a stab at is superhero fare. Which is not to say that he hasn’t been attached to such roles at one point or another. Most recently, Radcliffe’s name has been thrown in for Spider-Man and the X-Men’s Wolverine. What did the celebrated British actor have to say about these rumors? Check out the details below.
Do whatever a spider can
One superhero property that has been mentioned by fans as being great fit for Daniel Radcliffe is Spider-Man. Plus, Radcliffe himself has shown great interest in the possibility of bringing his interpretation to the Web-Slinger. During an interview for GQ in 2019, Radcliffe already teased his interest in playing the role of Spider-Man. However, the actor joked it would be for real-life, not in a film. More recently, Radcliffe was asked during the promotion for The Lost City the question of exploring the potential of playing Spider-Man. But he admits that the three previous actors (Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland) who all appeared in Spider-Man: No Way Home have already done a great job with the Wall-Crawler:

The best there is at what he does
The other big superhero character that Daniel Radcliffe has been considered for is the X-Man Wolverine. Fans have stated the actor has the range and charm, as well as the short stature, to play a more accurate version than Hugh Jackman (Reminiscence). Appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Daniel Radcliffe directly addresses the rumors surrounding his potential casting as Wolverine: Although Radcliffe has denied there are any definite talks with Marvel, he does appreciate that fans feel he could take over after Hugh Jackman’s iconic run as Logan: And then, like, every so often, I’ll get bored answering questions in a sensible way so I’ll make a joke, and every time I make a joke, I’m like, ‘Why did you do that? That’s gonna set–’ So the other day I was like, ‘prove me wrong, Marvel.’ And then that has ignited a whole thing. Given Hugh Jackman himself has stated he is done with playing the berzerker mutant, the possibility of Radcliffe taking on the mantle does exist. But it seems the likelihood is distant as far as Radcliffe is concerned.
The future
While Daniel Radcliffe has shot down both the Spider-Man and Wolverine castings for now, the future is another matter. And although he has expressed that he will not return as Harry Potter, the actor has not closed the doors to superhero roles. The introduction of the multiverse in the MCU certainly opens up the possibilities of Radcliffe playing alternate versions of either of the two Marvel mainstays. Or he could certainly take on a different Marvel or DC character. But it will certainly be after his portrayal of Weird Al Yankovic in an upcoming biopic. For the meantime, Radcliffe is taking on a more villainous turn in The Lost City. Here, the actor plays eccentric billionaire Abigail Fairfax with ties to the international criminal underworld. On the hunt for The Lost City of D, he kidnaps novelist Loretta Sage (Sandra Bullock) whose adventure books use the said city as its setting.
