Cyberpunk 2077 is the biggest cautionary tale of its generation if not all time. The highly anticipated game was widely considered as the next big thing in gaming - until it wasn’t. Cyberpunk 2077 was plagued by issues and bugs for months after it was released in late 2020 to the point that Microsoft and Sony decided to pull the game from sale until it was playable, which took nearly a year. Although Cyberpunk 2077 hasn’t lived up to its potential yet, with gamers still waiting on CDPR to deliver on promised content, the game started to show signs of recovery last year. Having said that, it appears that Cyberpunk 2077’s next big update is coming soon.
As spotted by the ever-observant users over on Reddit, CDPR recently updated the Steam database of Cyberpunk 2077. This isn’t indicative of what kind of update Cyberpunk 2077 is going to get, but it does suggest that CDPR is testing something. But, because it is not available to the public, the most likely scenario is that it concerns a relatively substantial update that’s coming for Cyberpunk 2077. In an ideal world, the January 14 patch would usher in new game content along with a slew of bug fixes, improvements, and more, to Cyberpunk 2077. On the other hand, it could be something a lot smaller. At this point, only CDPR knows what it is and when it’s coming. As we’ve already mentioned earlier, CDPR is starting to right the nearly-sinking ship that is Cyberpunk 2077. After the game started receiving positive reviews on Steam, subsequent reports suggested that the Polish studio was preparing massive updates for Cyberpunk 2077 in early 2022. However, late 2021 wasn’t all good news for Cyberpunk 2077 either. CDPR drew the ire of fans for several reasons such as for its false claims that Keanu Reeves played Cyberpunk 2077, which the Hollywood actor debunked, and the measly payout it made for settling a class-action lawsuit. Only time will tell if 2022 will be a better year for CDPR and Cyberpunk 2077. Here’s to hoping that Cyberpunk 2077 finally starts taking the shape of the game that it was promised to be all those years ago.
