If you take a look at the game’s score on Metacritic, Bayonetta 3 holds a score of 88 from 45 critics. It’s not quite on par with Bayonetta 2 and its 92 Metacritic score, but it’s close enough. Here’s a round-up of the review scores of Bayonetta 3:
Destructoid - 10/10 Nintendo Life - 10/10 GameSpot - 9/10 The Independent - 9/10 Game Informer - 8.25 / 10 GamesRadar+ - 3.5/5 Inverse - 8/10 The Gamer - 4/5 VG247 - 5/5
For a very long time, Bayonetta wasn’t considered part of the discussion of the best pure action game franchises. Many gamers ranked Bayonetta below the likes of Devil May Cry, Max Payne, and Ninja Gaiden. But, with Bayonetta 3, purists might have to take notice. For the third game in a row, Bayonetta delivers on all fronts, serving up a plate full of bangers that legitimizes the now-trilogy of games and its place in the pantheon of all-time greats. While it’s sad that its launch came with a hint of controversy, it’s safe to say that Bayonetta 3 won’t suffer for it. Having said that, the early reviews for Bayonetta 3 should all but guarantee that you’ll get your money’s worth from the game. Unfortunately, it’s this success that makes PC gamers feel sad about the deepening relationship between PlatinumGames and Nintendo. Bayonetta 3 will launch exclusively on the Nintendo Switch on Friday, October 28.
