After starring as Rocky Balboa, the penultimate underdog from Philadelphia, Sylvester Stallone is taking a step back from the franchise that he started to make way for Michael B. Jordan. After two successful outings, Jordan will star in and direct, Creed III. Unfortunately, if you were looking forward to watching the Creed threequel on November 23, we’ve got bad news for you. Adonis Creed’s next inspiring outing in the boxing ring won’t premiere until March 3, 2023. Deadline confirmed the delay in a new report. At the same time, it confirmed that a new Rocky spin-off is coming, Drago. The new film will see Dolph Lundgren return as Ivan Drago and his son, Viktor, who was played by Florian Munteanu. If nothing else, the arrival of both Creed III and Drago with Stallone taking a producer role will signal a new beginning for the fan-favorite boxing series. Unfortunately, we didn’t get a trailer for Creed 3 to mitigate the sting of the delay. The only two things we know for sure are that it will be the first Rockyverse film that will not feature Sly’s Rocky Balboa character and it will see Jonathan Majors join as Anderson Dame, a new opponent for Creed. Speaking of Stallone, you can watch one of Hollywood’s original action stars play an aging superhero in Samaritan. Stallone is also set to reprise his role as Starhawk in Guardians of the Galaxy 3, which is part of the Phase 5 slate of the MCU. Finally, Stallone’s Barney Ross is back in The Expendables 4, which is expected to come out later this year.
