The Polish studio went on Twitter to break the unfortunate news to fans. According to the announcement, CDPR has elected to move the work on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s next-gen versions to its “in-house development team.” The studio is now “evaluating the scope of work to be done and thus have to postpone Q2 release until further notice.”
Previously, Saber Interactive had helmed the development of the project. CDPR and Saber Interactive previously worked together on the well-reviewed Nintendo Switch port of The Witcher 3.
— The Witcher (@witchergame) April 13, 2022 The Witcher 3 remains CDPR’s most recognizable and best game. The open-world RPGs combat system, vast and encompassing world, as well as amazing visuals and lore-rich mythos has earned it a place among the best video games of all time. To date, many fans are still willing to give CDPR hope that it can turn things around for Cyberpunk 2077 after seeing what the studio did to The Witcher 3. The delay comes just a month after the company announced that it had started working on The Witcher 4. After facing controversial issues with Cyberpunk 2077, the upcoming game’s director promised a no-crunch policy under his watch. Speaking of Cyberpunk 2077, CDPR did not delay the much-maligned game’s PS5 and Xbox Series S/X versions. The enhanced ports for Cyberpunk 2077 arrived last month, delighting fans. With the action RPG now in a mostly playable state, the developer now has its eyes set on the long-gestating expansions for the game.
