For those that don’t know, Goldeneye 007 was a first-person shooter developed by Rare and published by Nintendo for the N64 way back in 1997. The game was based on the 1995 James Bond film of the same name, GoldenEye, and featured the dashing debonair of a British Secret Intelligence Service agent going up against a criminal syndicate who planned on using a satellite weapon to cripple the global financial network. So, you know, typical James Bond stuff. Well, while the single-player campaign was surprisingly good, what made GoldenEye 007 stand-out was its split-screen multiplayer mode that let as many as four players take each other out in various game modes.

GoldenEye 007 Remake Footage Leaks

Apparently, this very popular and iconic title was greenlit for an official remake with Rare, Microsoft, and 4J Studios all working together to release it for the Microsoft Xbox 360 back in 2007. What happened? We don’t know. However, as per the latest leak of yet, it seems that the game was actually completed before being shelved for some unknown reason. As you can see from the leaked footage below, the game is very playable. If you scroll down and read the video description, you’ll see the uploader, Graslu00, posting a couple of details regarding the remake. In it, he mentions that the remaster will actually release sometime in 2021, in some form. Grasul00 also took to Twitter to confirm that this video is not related to the recent data leak that went rounds on popular internet message board, 4chan. He clarifies that this footage came from PartnerNet, which is a version of Xbox Live exclusive to owners of a dev kit.

Is a GoldenEye 007 Remake in the Works?

Possibly. Io Interactive, the developers and publishers of the previous three Hitman titles, is currently working on Project 007, a James Bond game, and has even had a chance to sit down with the producers of the James Bond films, Barbara Broccoli and Eon Productions.
