In its latest attempt, Sony has dropped a live-action trailer for God of War: Ragnarok. But, before you get all psyched about who’s playing Kratos, the latest footage is a comedic sketch. Even so, it does the job well enough to get people talking about the upcoming God of War sequel. Seeing as the relationship between Kratos and Atreus plays a huge role in the emotionally-charged journey the two are about to share, the ad attempts to make light of this by tying the game’s storyline into the personal lives of Stiller, dressed as Kratos, as well as Lebron James and John Travolta. Of course, in classic Stiller fashion, he couldn’t help but sprinkle in some of his brand of witty humor into the mix. The result is an effective ad for one of the year’s most highly anticipated games. God of War: Ragnarok was officially revealed last September. After getting an official release date earlier this year for the PS4 and PS5, Sony has ramped up its marketing efforts. We’re only a week away from its November 9 launch, Sony is no longer pulling punches. It’s worth noting that Sony is dealing with a massive leak issue as players have gotten copies of God of War: Ragnarok early with some leaking the entire plot online. Also, 2018’s God of War just reached a new sales milestones and Sony expects the sequel to achieve the same level of success. It will be interesting to see if the “official” live-action trailer for God of War: Ragnarok can help the game meet if not surpass expectations. For now, we can look forward to the review embargo to lift to find out more about what the critics have to say about the game.
