Peter Jackson’s original Lord of the Rings movies was a seminal piece of product that many audiences continue to remember fondly two decades after 2001’s The Fellowship of the Ring was released. However, Prime Video intends to separate its adaptation in many ways. Aside from being a prequel, The Rings of Power will not bring back any of the actors involved in Jackson’s movies. Case in point, Morfydd Clark will play Galadriel in the Prime Video series instead of Cate Blanchett, as you can see in the trailer below. The brief look at The Rings of Power’s Galadriel sees audiences read the Ring Verse, which Gandalf the White made famous in The Fellowship of the Rings. If it wasn’t already obvious, the title and logo reveal, as well as the Ring Verse reading by Galadriel, emphasizes the prominence of the Rings of Power in Prime Video’s upcoming Lord of the Rings show. In the books, the Dark Lord Sauron rose to power in the Second Age and forged the One Ring to gain lordship over the Elves. However, with a millennia worth of source material to draw on, it will be interesting to see which years The Rings of Power will end up adapting by the time that the show wraps up its run. Here’s to hoping that Prime Video decides to get a bit more generous in the coming months as we inch closer to The Rings of Power’s premiere in September. In other news, Prime Video also recently revealed when The Boys Season 3 will premiere. After a year of anticipation, fans can look forward to seeing The Boys’ latest season on June 3. Speaking of, The Boys’ showrunner, Eric Kripke, just threw some major shade at DC’s Superman, saying that The Seven’s leader, Homelander, can beat Superman in a fight.
